Hellfire Club — Privacy Policy

Hellfire Club is a tabletop roleplaying game with an AI Dungeon Master. This policy explains what happens to what you type, what you say, and what the game records — in plain terms, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.

The short version: your gameplay text is sent to Anthropic so the Dungeon Master can reply. Everything else stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising.

What is sent off your device

Your gameplay content is sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) to generate the Dungeon Master's narration. This is the core of how the game works — without it there is no Dungeon Master. What travels with each turn includes:

• what you type or dictate as your character's actions
• your characters' names, sheets and backstories, including anything you wrote yourself
• the story so far in the current session, so the Dungeon Master remembers it
• the campaign's own reference text, which ships with the app

Anthropic processes this to produce a reply and returns it to your device. Their handling of it is governed by their own terms, which we do not control: anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

Do not type anything into the game you would not want processed by a third party. It is a game about imaginary people in imaginary danger; please keep real secrets, real medical details, and real personal information out of it.

What stays on your device

• Your microphone audio. When you speak to the Dungeon Master, your speech is turned into text by Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio itself is never uploaded, never written to disk, and is discarded as soon as the sentence is recognised. The resulting text is then sent with your turn, exactly as if you had typed it.
• Your saved games. Characters, session history and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They are not backed up to us and we cannot read them.
• Your choices. Volume, narrator voice, and campaign selection are stored locally.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else.

What we do not do

• No accounts, no sign-up, no email address.
• No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or usage tracking.
• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party trackers.
• No location, contacts, photos, calendar, or health data — the app never asks.
• No selling or sharing of anything, to anyone, for any purpose.

Permissions the app asks for

• Microphone — only so you can speak your character's actions instead of typing them. Used only while you are holding a turn. Declining it costs you nothing but the microphone button; the game is fully playable by typing.
• Speech recognition — to turn that audio into text on your device.

Children

Hellfire Club is a horror game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them — or, for that matter, from anyone, since there are no accounts.

The Dungeon Master invents things

Every word the Dungeon Master says is generated by a language model. It is fiction, it can be wrong about its own world, and none of it was written by a person. Do not treat anything it says as advice.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, the app will ask you to read it again rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
